The Ministry of Internal Affairs says its attention has been drawn to media reports of alleged arson attacks on the newly planted palm plantation of the Equatorial Palm Oil in District #4, Grand Bassa County.

 

The report quotes authorities of EPO as saying that fire incidents have been reported in the plantation in recent weeks with more than 26 acres planted in 2011 burnt.

 

The Ministry said the reported fire incidence suggests that some criminal individuals may be exploiting the plantation environment created by the contentions.

 

Although the cause of the fire has not been established, the ministry has condemned the act, noting that in as much as government protects its citizens’ right of choice and freedom; it is under obligation to protect all investments legally executed by government.

 

The Internal Affairs Ministry is at the same time calling all residents of District No. 4 in Grand Bassa County to refrain from any acts that endanger public safety, security, and investments.

 

The Ministry said acting through Grand Bassa County Superintendent Etweda Cooper; it will collaborate with other agencies to ensure safety of all investors and all citizens.
