Abuja, October 15, 2018:A 4-day brainstorming session on effective monitoring and reporting on human settlements indicators for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is taking place in Abuja, Nigeria.


The workshop is intended to provide technical support to countries involved in the implementation of the SDGs including Liberia.


According to a release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the training is under the auspices of UN-Habitat in collaboration with the European Union (EU), the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Bank.

 
The release said Assistant Internal Affairs Minister for Urban Affairs, Honorable Abubakar Bah is at the head of a Liberian delegation.


The workshop is an effort aimed at assessing the feasibility of applying a global definition of cities/urban areas in support of global monitoring of SDGs, specifically SDG # 11.


SDG #11 States "make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable".


Assistant Minister Bah will make a presentation on Liberia's practices/experiences on urban/city definition in line with the newly signed Local Government Act (LGA) and modalities for implementing new methodologies and tools. The release concluded
