Ministry of Internal Affairs and Civil Service Agency Hold Day-long Personnel and Credentials Verification Exercise Inception Training ahead of nationwide Joint personnel verification and credentials audit exercise for the MIA

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Civil Service Agency on Tuesday August 5, 2025 delivered a one day personnel and Credentials Verification Exercise inception training at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The inception training jointly organized by the Civil Service Agency and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is in preparation for the implementation of personnel verification and credentials audit exercise for employees and staff of the Internal Affairs Ministry across the country. The exercise is expected to kick off on August 18, 2025.

The intensive training focused on several thematic areas including mobilization and communication techniques, file review and personnel data, time keeping and records analysis as well as credentials verification, reclassification and redeployment.

Speaking during the launch of the training, Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Nyumalin, disclosed that upon assuming office in 2024 his administration embarked on a survey that showed dilapidated infrastructure and a large number of personnel that did not have the requisite training.

He said the survey showed further that sixty seven per cent of the ministry’s central office personnel were either high school graduates or high school dropouts a situation he described as worrisome emphasizing that with such low capacity, the ministry will not  function at full capacity and will be unable to provide the deliverables expected of government functionaries.

He disclosed that President Joseph Boakai signed a performance contract with government officials and looks forward to effective and efficient delivery of their respective mandates inclusive of the internal Affairs Ministry.

Meanwhile Minister Nyumalin assured that personnel who do not passed the CSA verification and credentials audit will be accommodated in the private sector or provided training opportunities.

Also speaking, the Director General of the Civil Service Agency Dr. Josiah Joekai, underscored the significance of the personnel and credentials verification exercise. He intoned that the initiative seeks to not only verify employee qualification but also to collect essential data to maintain personnel records , ensuring compliance, managing performance, and facilitating informed decision-making.

He said it is about building a reliable and accountable service and also serve as a   precursor to a broader, nationwide credential review and verification process for all Ministry of Internal Affairs employees.
