The Ministry of Internal Affairs is committed to enhancing the capabilities of local government actors to ensure effective service delivery and governance. In line with this commitment, we are pleased to announce a collaborative initiative with the Department of Education and National Learning (DEN-L) to develop a comprehensive course content and syllabus for the Local Government School (LGS). This initiative aims to equip local government officials with the necessary skills and knowledge to foster better governance and community engagement. 

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in partnership with DEN-L, will work together to create a robust training curriculum for the LGS. This curriculum will be tailored to address the specific needs and challenges faced by local government actors, ensuring that they are well-prepared to fulfill their roles effectively. To promote a standardized level of competency across all local government entities, all local government officials must participate in the requisite training programs offered at the LGS. This initiative will not only enhance individual capabilities but also strengthen the overall governance framework within our communities. 

The Ministry will seek to provide statutory protection for the existence and operation of the District Service Commissions (DSC) and the Local Government School (LGS). This legal backing will ensure the sustainability and continuity of these vital institutions, enabling them to function effectively in their mandate. Recognizing the importance of adequate resources for training and development, the Ministry will actively seek and provide financial and logistical support to the DSC and LGS. This support will facilitate the implementation of training programs and ensure that local government actors have access to the necessary tools and resources for their professional growth. 

The Government Training Partnership Meeting marks a significant step forward in our efforts to strengthen local governance through targeted capacity building. By investing in the training and development of local government officials, we are laying the foundation for more responsive, accountable, and effective governance at the local level.
